These enduro events are usually run in stages raced against the clock. An example of this type of race is the World Enduro Championship.

Time Keeping Enduros
For this type of enduro the objective is to arrive at specific locations exactly as the riders schedule describes. Early or late arrivals can result in penalties, which will affect the rider’s scores. Therefore, this type of event is not technically a race, but a time keeping event.
In time keeping events the riders will start in rows, which start on a certain minute. Throughout the event the rider must then arrive at certain checkpoints along the given route at the stated time. There are many different types of checkpoints, such as ‘known checks’, ‘secret checks’, ‘emergency checks’, ‘start checks’, and ‘finish checks’.
Throughout the event there will e specific periods for refuelling and servicing the bikes. Penalties will be given for not meeting times and for using outside assistance when not permitted.
World Championship courses for this sort of event are at least 200km!
Big events in Enduro include the World Enduro Champsionship (WEC), and the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE)
World Enduro Championship
This event started in 1990 replacing the European Enduro Championship, which has been running since 1968.
The championship consists of around 8 or 9 Grands rix all over the world, each one split into 2 days. Points from each race will be put towards the championship. Each round will include a motocross test and an ‘extreme test’, as well as the enduro stage itself.
In 2008, Mike Ahola for Honda won the Enduro 1 class, Johny Aubert from Yamaha took the Enduro 2 class and KTM’s Samuli Aro won his 5th title in the Enduro 3 clas.

Hare and Hound
This type of off road race is where the riders race on a track of natural terrain, the track itself being like an extended motocross track without the manmade jumps and tabletops.
The event itself can last anything from 1 hour to 24 hours! The length of the track varies throughout the UK but on average is around 6 miles.
